The training program is designed with the objective of undergoing external evaluation at the program level, in accordance with the Educational Quality Standards promulgated by the Minister of Education and Training (MOET).

 

1. EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES

1.1. General Objectives

The program aims to train high-quality human resources with solid political character, ethics, and physical health. Graduates will possess comprehensive knowledge of the English language, professional linguistics skills, and high adaptability to meet the demands of the labor market in the context of international integration.

1.2. Specific Objectives

Graduates will possess comprehensive knowledge, skills, autonomy, and responsibility to:

a. Knowledge

Apply foundational knowledge of social and natural sciences, and particularly specialized expertise in English Linguistics, to professional practice and advanced academic pursuits.

b. Skills

Develop essential professional skills - integrated with linguistic and business expertise - to effectively solve workplace problems and adapt to dynamic shifts in the professional environment.

c. Autonomy and Responsibility

 Independently plan, coordinate, manage, supervise, and evaluate resources to achieve established objectives within international or foreign-invested working environments.

 

2. Training Duration

Standard Duration: 3.5 years.

Maximum Duration: The maximum time allowed to complete the training program includes the standard duration and the permitted extension period as stipulated in the Regulations on Undergraduate Training under the Credit System (Issued under Decision No. 1846/QĐ-DCT dated September 01, 2021, by the Principal of Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade).

3. Graduation Degree

Bachelor’s degree is awarded upon completion of undergraduate program

4. Admission Requirements

Standard Entry: Applicants must hold a High School Diploma or equivalent and meet the University’s admission or entrance examination standards.

Transfer from Associate Degree (College): Applicants with an Associate Degree in the same or a closely related major may have their prior learning results, knowledge, and skills recognized for course exemptions within this program.

Double Major (Concurrent Enrollment): Students currently pursuing another undergraduate major at the University who meet the conditions specified in the University Regulations may have accumulated credits from their first major considered for exemption in this program.

Second Bachelor’s Degree: Applicants who already hold a first Bachelor’s degree in a different major may have their prior learning results recognized for course exemptions when pursuing this program as a second degree.

 

5. Assessment Methods

Assessment is conducted in accordance with:

The Regulations on Undergraduate Training under the Credit System (Issued under Decision No. 1846/QĐ-DCT dated September 01, 2021, by the Principal of Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade).

 

6. Training Regulations and Graduation Requirements

Graduation Review and Recognition: Conducted according to the Regulations on Undergraduate Training under the Credit System (Decision No. 1846/QĐ-DCT).

Foreign Language Proficiency Standard: Complies with the Regulations on Foreign Language Exit Standards (Issued under Decision No. 2212/QĐ-DCT dated October 19, 2021).

Information Technology (IT) Standard: Complies with the Regulations on IT Proficiency Standards (Issued under Decision No. 1201/QĐ-DCT dated May 17, 2022).

 

7. Career Opportunities after Graduation

Graduates of the Bachelor’s program in English Linguistics can undertake various professional roles, including but not limited to:

Public Sector & Research: Working in government agencies and research institutes within the Commerce and Services sectors that utilize English, serving as office officers, administrative staff, import-export officers, or diplomatic attaches.

Administration & Management: Serving as administrative staff, specialists, secretaries, or assistants within corporate offices, enterprises, educational institutions, and domestic or international social organizations.

Translation & Interpretation: Working as professional translators or interpreters specializing in Business and Commerce for domestic and international enterprises and organizations.

Service & Finance Industries: Engaging in professional fields that require advanced English proficiency as per employer demands, such as tourism and travel services, hospitality (restaurants/hotels), and the banking and finance sector.

Education: Teaching English at primary, lower-secondary, and upper-secondary schools, language centers, or other educational institutions providing English training.

8. Postgraduate Academic Progression and Career Development

 

English Linguistics students can pursue advanced studies in TESOL, English Linguistics, and closely related fields such as Vietnamese-English Contrastive Linguistics, Business Administration, and Journalism & Communications.

10. Quality Control and Assurance in Education

Units are responsible for developing and implementing plans for quality control and assurance in accordance with the approved training program and current teaching regulations.

 

11. Implementation Guidelines

11.1. For Training Faculties and Departments

- Curriculum Adherence: Faculties and Departments must thoroughly study the training program to ensure implementation strictly follows the required curricular content.

- Faculty Assignment: Assign lecturers to be in charge of each course and provide them with the official course syllabi to execute teaching plans.

- Academic Advising: Carefully prepare the academic advisory team; advisors are required to have a profound understanding of the entire credit-based training program to effectively guide students in course registration.

- Resource Preparation: Ensure the full availability of textbooks, reference materials, and physical facilities to guarantee the high-quality execution of the program.

- Curriculum Logic & Electives: Pay close attention to the logical progression of knowledge transfer and acquisition; define prerequisites for compulsory courses and prepare teaching staff to meet the requirements for elective modules.

- Monitoring & Innovation: Inspect and supervise faculty teaching activities in accordance with current teaching regulations; ensure the implementation of innovations in teaching methodologies and assessment practices.

11.2. For Lecturers

- Course Preparation: Upon being assigned to one or more course units, lecturers must thoroughly study the course syllabi to prepare lesson plans, teaching methodologies, and appropriate instructional materials and tools.

- Learning Resources: Lecturers are responsible for fully preparing textbooks and learning materials, providing them to students in advance to ensure effective pre-class preparation.

- Pedagogical Approach & Assessment: Implement diverse teaching and learning methods aligned with the educational philosophy: "Active Learning, Creative Work." Adhere strictly to the assessment and evaluation methods prescribed in the course syllabi.

- Professional Development & Innovation: Regularly engage in self-reflection to improve teaching performance and actively participate in pedagogical innovation activities in compliance with current teaching regulations.

11.3. For Students

- Academic Advising: Consult with academic advisors or class teachers to select courses that align appropriately with their individual study progress.

- Pre-class Preparation: Thoroughly study course syllabi, textbooks, and reference materials before attending class to ensure optimal comprehension of lectures.

- Attendance & Participation: Ensure full attendance in all class sessions to receive guidance and lectures from instructors.

- Active Learning: Enhance autonomy and a spirit of self-study and research; actively participate in group work, discussions, seminars, and practical sessions.

- Resource Utilization: Proactively utilize online resources and university library facilities to support self-study, research, and the completion of the graduation thesis.

- Academic Integrity: Strictly comply with the Regulations on Testing, Examination, and Assessment.
