Information on program accreditation:
The undergraduate English Linguistics program of the HCMC University of Industry and Trade has met MOET (Ministry of Education and Training) quality standards since 2022.
1.1. General Objectives
The program aims to train high-quality human resources with solid political character, ethics, and physical health. Graduates will possess comprehensive knowledge of the English language, professional linguistics skills, and high adaptability to meet the demands of the labor market in the context of international integration. HUIT students are expected to graduate with full capacity to work in fields of translation and interpretation, English teaching, business, and research.
1.2. Specific Objectives
Upon completion of the program, graduates will be able to:
a. Language Proficiency: Achieve a high level of communicative competence in English across all four skills (Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing).
b. Professional Expertise: Apply foundational and specialized knowledge in English linguistics, culture, and literature to professional practice; Demonstrate critical thinking, problem-solving, and effective communication skills in multicultural and multidisciplinary environments.
c. Ethics and Attitude: Maintain a sense of social responsibility, professional ethics, and a spirit of lifelong learning.
Standard Duration: 3.5 years.
Maximum Duration: The maximum time allowed to complete the training program includes the standard duration and the permitted extension period as stipulated in the Regulations on Undergraduate Training under the Credit System (Issued under Decision No. 3020/QĐ-DCT dated October 19, 2023, by the Principal of Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade).
3. Graduation Degree
Bachelor’s Degree: Awarded upon completion of the undergraduate program, accumulation of the required number of credits, and fulfillment of all graduation requirements as prescribed by the University’s Regulations on Undergraduate Training under the Credit System.
4. Admission Requirements
Standard Entry: Applicants must hold a High School Diploma or equivalent and meet the University’s admission or entrance examination standards.
Transfer from Associate Degree (College): Applicants with an Associate Degree in the same or a closely related major may have their prior learning results, knowledge, and skills recognized for course exemptions within this program.
Double Major (Concurrent Enrollment): Students currently pursuing another undergraduate major at the University who meet the conditions specified in the University Regulations may have accumulated credits from their first major considered for exemption in this program.
Second Bachelor’s Degree: Applicants who already hold a first Bachelor’s degree in a different major may have their prior learning results recognized for course exemptions when pursuing this program as a second degree.
5. Assessment Methods
Assessment is conducted in accordance with:
The Regulations on Undergraduate Training under the Credit System (Issued under Decision No. 3020/QĐ-DCT dated October 19, 2023, by the Principal of Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade).
The Regulations on Testing, Examination, and Assessment of Learning Outcomes (Issued under Decision No. 2402/QĐ-DCT dated August 22, 2023, by the Principal of Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade).
6. Training Regulations and Graduation Requirements
Graduation Review and Recognition: Conducted according to the Regulations on Undergraduate Training under the Credit System (Decision No. 3020/QĐ-DCT).
Foreign Language Proficiency Standard: Complies with the Regulations on Foreign Language Exit Standards (Issued under Decision No. 1281/QĐ-DCT dated April 26, 2024).
Information Technology (IT) Standard: Complies with the Regulations on IT Proficiency Standards (Issued under Decision No. 3297/QĐ-DCT dated November 07, 2023).

10. Quality Control and Assurance in Education
Units are responsible for developing and implementing plans for quality control and assurance in accordance with the approved training program and current teaching regulations.
11.1. For Faculties and Departments
- Be responsible for organizing the implementation of the program in compliance with its content requirements, and for advising and guiding students in course registration.
- Assign lecturers to each course and provide them with course syllabi to implement the teaching plan.
- Prepare sufficient textbooks, reference materials, and facilities to ensure effective program delivery.
- Pay attention to the logical sequencing of knowledge delivery and acquisition; specify prerequisite and prior courses; and prepare lecturers to meet the requirements of elective courses.
- Inspect and monitor teaching activities in accordance with current teaching regulations, and ensure the implementation of innovative teaching methods and assessment practices.
- Lecturers must carefully review the course syllabus to prepare lesson content, appropriate teaching methods, and instructional materials.
- Lecturers are required to prepare sufficient textbooks and learning materials and provide them to students so that they can prepare before class.
- Apply a variety of teaching and learning methods in line with the educational philosophy of “Active learning and creative engagement,” and implement assessment methods as specified in the course syllabus.
- Reflect on their own teaching practices and actively participate in innovating teaching methods in accordance with current teaching regulations.
11.3. For Students
- Seek advice from academic advisors/homeroom teachers when selecting courses to ensure alignment with their study orientation and learning capacity.
- Comply with required class attendance and participation in practical sessions as stipulated.
- Promote autonomy, self-study, and self-research, while actively engaging in group work and fully participating in discussions, seminars, and practical activities.
- Actively utilize online resources and the university library to support self-study, research, and the completion of the graduation thesis.
- Strictly comply with regulations on examinations, testing, and assessment of learning outcomes.
